Calendar Controls

··2 mins

The calendar controls shared by the calendar and the dashboard.

Hour of the day #

At the top of the Dashboard and the Calendar are a series of controls. These are used to select the day and month and also to keep track of the time of day. You click on an hour to set it as the current hour (see it in action below). The weather in the calendar box on the right (on the Dashboard page) or in the days of the month boxes (on the Calendar page) will change according to the hour of the day if there are precipitations.

The current time is 4 AM.

Weather #

The weather for each day is determined by two d10 and six d6 rolls, as described on page 144 of HMK. The two d10 determine the temperature and precipitation for the day. And on d6 is rolled for every 4-hour watch to determine if the precipitation, if any, is continuous or light. When you change the hour in the day, on a day with precipitation, you will see the result of these d6s rolls as the precipitation goes from light (empty icon) to continuous (filled icon). All of these rolls are made and stored in memory, so the GM can look ahead at the weather and come back to the current hour without losing anything). The temperature might also change during nighttime depending on the effect of the night modifier for the climate zone (as per page 144), passing from warm to cool in the example below.

Overview of the calendar controls section #

There is a lot of information in that section and here is an overview of that (the Dashboard controls are shown).

A detailed view of the calendar controls with features pointed out.

Weather depends on the Climate Zone and daylight depends on the Latitude. Both of these are shown on the top right and can be changed in the settings. If you also need to change the elevation you have to do that in the Calendar view (at the bottom).

Enconter Distance Night-time Modifier #

Encounter distance (see page 150) is given for daytime. During twilight, you always halve the distances. During the night, encounter distance depends on the brightness of the moon. Since this varies with the date, there is an indicator that shows the night-time modifier for the current day. Shown below if the modifier for a dark moon (as defined on page 142).
